St Ives Town FC join in the fun at the Carnival - July 2009
St Ives Town Football Club turned out at the St Ives Carnival at Warner's Park last saturday to promote 'Football in the Community'.

Director of Media and Public Relations; Simon Clark, commented "It was a fantastic day and it was nice that we could stop and chat to the local community about what is new at the football club and also being able to discuss many new changes to the running of the club. The weather was great which made a big difference as we had 'beat the goalkeeper'stand where the kids of the Town were able to take penalties against one of the clubs goalkeepers" he added "the main aim for the day was to promote the football club and to show our support in a local community event"

Charity Shirt Sponsor Found
Pictured above is St Ives Town FC’s committee member Grieg Sarath presenting the new shirt to the chairman of the Penfold Trust Dave Misseldine.
Back in August of last year, St Ives Town FC launched their appeal to find a local charity to be their shirt sponsor. The response that the club received was overwhelming with many local charities being proposed for the honour.  The charities were presented to the committee of St Ives Town FC and they were asked to decide upon their preferred charity. Following much deliberation the Penfold Trust were chosen. The Penfold Trust (registered charity number 1114854) was formed with charity status in 2005, with the objective of raising money to help worthy causes in the local area. The Penfold Committee have been raising money for 14 years with The Penfold Quiz and Boogielicious Disco, which are both annual events.
Dave Misseldine, Chairman of the Penfold Trust, said “On behalf of the Trust I would like to thank St Ives Town Football Club for their tremendous gesture of choosing the Penfold Trust logo to go on the town’s football shirts. This is a great opportunity to promote the Trust. The Penfold Trust logo has already been printed onto the first team shirts and will also shortly be printed onto the reserve and Under 18’s shirts.
The committee of the Penfold Trust then  went on to wish St Ives Town Football Club all the best of luck in the league and cup competitions this season.
The club are holding a charity Sporting Dinner on the 5th March 2009 at the Burgess Hall in St Ives where Ron Atkinson and comedian Mick Miller will be special guests.

Community Report Updated 2/9/08
A very warm welcome to a new feature that is at the very heart of St Ives Town Football Club. The community report will update you on what is happening off the pitch at Westwood Road and what we are doing make St Ives Town FC a Club for the Community.
Latest
Records show that St Ives Town FC was formed in 1887 making the club older than Liverpool and Chelsea and just 9 years younger than Manchester United. Whilst St Ives Town FC may not be able to enjoy the same level of fame and stature that these clubs can we certainly have a long history that we can be proud of and have had more than our fare share of success. The last couple of seasons have been amongst the most successful on record winning all of the local cup competitions and finishing 5th in the United Counties Premier League. For many, the highlight of recent seasons was the clubs FA Vase run last year. 489 teams entered the FA Vase last year and St Ives Town FC made it through to the last 16 and were just 3 wins from a Wembley Cup final! Nearly 800 fans packed into Westwood Road and created a superb atmosphere watching a thrilling 3-3 draw. Unfortunately the dream ended when we were beaten in the reply. The excitement in the local community that surrounded that game was immense and it was a taste of what the town could enjoy every other weekend. On the field the club want to emulate Histon FC and follow their meteoric rise. Less than 10 seasons ago Histon FC were playing the same level of football as St Ives Town FC. Histon FC now play in the Blue Square Premier League (just one league below the football league). We think it would be great if every football playing child in St Ives aspired to play for their local club.Off the field the club is passionate about the local community and the committee have been hard at work modernising the facilities at their Westwood Road ground. We are trying to create an environment where the local community can come and enjoy a Saturday afternoon in a relaxed and friendly environment. The clubhouse has 5 TV screens, along with a pool table, table football, darts and a Wii. We are also hoping to create a childrens play area next to the clubhouse. The committee have also been tirelessly promoting the club. We recently declined an offer from a large telecommunications company to install a mobile phone mast at the ground as we feel it wouldn’t have been the right thing to do considering the location of the ground. Additionally we also supported the Huge Day Out charity fun day by permitting the organisers to hold the event at the ground free of charge. Shortly we will be selecting a local charity sponsor whose logo will adorn our new first team shirts and have decided to send our old kits to Africa. It would mean so much to the players and committee of St Ives Town FC if more and more people came down to the club to cheer the team on.
Clubhouse
You will have noticed many changes at Westwood Road since the end of last season. Many people have provided their services, time and materials free of charge to help improve the standard of the facilities at Westwood Road. We are grateful that many of these people have accepted the invitation to be our guests at this evenings game and on behalf of the committee i would like to thank you all for everything that you have done.
The reason that all these people have put in so much effort is because they all share a vision of creating a facility that the whole community can enjoy. Westwood Road should not only be a place that people come to every other Saturday afternoon. It should be a meeting place for friends, a place to bring the children and relax, a place for clubs to meet and a venue for parties and events. Please take time to look around Westwood Road and meet with the committee.
No to 02
The committee have recently been approached by mobile telecoms giant 02 to permit them to erect telecommunications equipment including, antennae, microwave dishes and a telecommunications tower at Westwood Road. The proposal would have benefited the club to the tune of £4,000.00 pa. As a club we could have done with this money but the committee decided that the proposal could never be given any serious consideration being next to a school, a sports centre and a residential area.
Kits to Africa
During the summer break the guys have emptied out the kit cupboard. Many kits that are no longer worn but still in great condition have been bagged up and it has been decided that these kits will be sent to Africa for local teams to benefit from. St Ives Town FC will be sending the kits to Lucy Hall of ISG (a London based construction Company) and Lucy will arrange for the kits to be sent to Africa as part of a school building initiative that she is involved with. More details of this and photographs will follow.
Memory Lane
With the refurbishment of the bar and function room almost complete we are looking for St Ives Town FC memorabilia to adorn the freshly painted walls. If you have any photographs of friend or relatives playing for the club then we would be most grateful of the opportunity to copy these, frame them and hang them in the club house. If you have any suggestions regarding St Ives Town FC in the community then please forward these to the above e.mail address as we are keen that we consider the views of everyone within the community of St Ives.
