In their last pre season home friendly, the Saints went down 3-1 to Zameretto side Soham Town Rangers in front of an encouraging crowd of 131 at Westwood Road.

St Ives survived an initial onslaught on Gavin Armitage's goal and their initial pressure paid off after 12 minutes as Richard Gammon (who later was taken to hospital with a suspected achilles injury) managed to get his shot off but a wicked deflection saw it wrong foot Armitage and creep into the bottom corner. St Ives levelled after 16 minutes when Ozie Foster managed to create space inside the penalty area and side foot passed the towering figure of Danny Burcham in the Soham goal.

Rangers went close shortly before half time and a deep corner found the head of the Soham centre half who saw his header crash against the Saints bar and over. Moments later Carl Foreman saw his effort fly past the post to deny the Saints the lead.

Both sides exchanged chances in the second half but it was Soham who came out on top when Dubi Ogbonna latched onto a deft through ball to slot past seconf half substitute; Niall Conroy-Owen, in the Saints goal.

As the game drew to a close, Soham made it 3-1 when Will Seymour effort, again took a delection and found the corner leaving Conroy-Owen with no chance.

St Ives now face March Town away on Saturday afternoon as they finish their pre season friendlies and now only 10 days away from the first league match against Holbeach United on August 7th.
