St Ives Town bowed out at the early stages of the FA Cup this afternoon to UCL Premier Division opponents Cogenhoe United in a game which saw the Saints parade new signing Dan Matson in front of the expectant home support but only to see him leave the field of play with a serious knee injury.

Westwood Road once again hosts this FA Cup tie between these two UCL Premier Division sides and with the winning side hosting the next round at home in two weeks time there is an added incentive for these sides to win. The Saints who have won and lost in the league are up against a United side who drew their first match away to PNS and then smashed 5 past Rothwell Corinthians on Tuesday evening. A full match report will be submitted to the Saints website soon after the game. Saints welcome Dan Matson to the squad alonsige Conor Washington but they will be without Tom Thrale after a broken arm in midweek will keep him out for several weeks.

Rushden & Higham Reserves vs St Ives Town Reserves

The Saints Reserves kick off their league campaign tomorrow with a trip to Rushden and Higham. Saints Co Manager; Ricky Byrne spoke to the website this evening "We have prepared well for this game and both Gary and I are looking forward to getting the league underway" More reports and reactions will be found on the website later on Saturday evening.

Striker Dan Matson signs for the Saints

Saints Co Manager was delighted, this afternoon, to announce the latest player to join the Saints squad for this season. Dan Matson has joined St Ives Town and the 24 year old can list Grantham, Spalding, Boston United and Peterborough United as his former clubs. Hall spoke to the website earlier today "This is a great signing for us and I belive he will fit into the squad very nicely" he added "Dan will go straight into the squad for Saturday's FA CUp match versus Cogenhoe United"

Season so Far by Andy Smith 

Loyal supporter; Andy Smith gives us his viewpoint on the defeat against Newport Pagnell and the impact on the season so far for the Saints.

"Pagnell as always, a very robust side, with in all good teams an excellent spine from goalkeeper to centre halves, midfield and forwards. First half was fairly even. Loss of first goal to seemingly a free header from a corner kick was disappointing but thrown a lifeline via Westwood Road bobble for handball penalty decision. Felt for Carl who has had an impressive pre-season etc and thriving on starts. Pagnell then largely dictated remainder of second half and looked comfortable. Killer second goal with 10 minutes to go perhaps a little youthful naievity but mens football at this level a learning curve. Management team should not be despondent in any way as long season. Lee Ellisons absence a major factor as his pure prescence would have stemmed pagnells combative style"
