Wednesday 17th March 2010 - UCL Reserve Division Two St Ives Town Reserves 1 Northampton ON Chenecks Reserves 3 There were no St Patrick's Day celebrations from the home supporters as the Saints Reserves went down 3-1 to high flying ON Chenecks, who cemented their place at the eviable position of top of the league. Chances went a begging in the first half for the Saints with both Max Francis Johnson and Arran MacKay going close but failing to find the net. ON Chenecks took the lead after only 5 minutes and made it 2-0 half an hour later. With the game posed at 0-2 going into the break and re-juvinated Saints side came out firing and Simon Pearce gave the home support a cheer when he finished from close range. The game was settled with 65 minutes gone as the Northampton side made it 1-3 with a neat lob with the right hand side. After the game Saints manager; Wayne Singh, said "Tonight was better and we feel we matched them in all areas of the park" he added "We look more confident and the moral is better but we keep conceding these sloppy goals and we dont take our chances when we shood to give us the chance of winning the game" |

Wayne said "Tonight is an important game for us as we have had some indifferent results of late so we are looking to try and finish this season on a high" he added "With the first team playing away both Tuesday and Thursday this week I appreciate that some of the supporters were unable to make the trip so watching a home game may be much easier for them!" Chenecks come into this game into this game sitting at the top of the table and certainly looking for promotion. Their crushing of Thrapton Town Reserves will give them the confidence for their trip into Cambridgeshire but the Saints are ready and waiting to try an upset the form books. |

Tuesday 16th March 2010 - UCL Premier Division
Bourne Town 2 St Ives Town 2 "We seemed to be always chasing the game tonight" says Saints co manager; Warren Everdell after he saw their side come away from Lincolnshire with only a point after a two all draw at Abbey Lawn. Everdell also added "We seem to play differently when we play different sides and I think we need to adjust our mental approach to games like this where we should be gaining all three points" Declan Rogers equalised for the Saints shortly before the break after Bourne had opened the scoring after a fluke goal caught out keeper Rob MacKney. A "dubious penalty was awarded for Bourne" was a quote by many Saints supporters and this was dispatched to give the home side a sight of all three points. Will Fordham came to the rescue once again after his 86th minute equaliser from a Declan Rogers Free kick. Saints now face three games a week for the remainder of the season as they look to crown their season in cup glory. Keep an eye on the website for more match previews. |

After Saturday's goalless draw with St Neots Town, the website managed to catch up with a few members of the board and the management of St Ives Town to get their views and opinions. DATE FOR YOUR DIARY !! The return fixture has been scheduled for Easter Monday (April 5th 2010) at Westwood Road - kick off time will be 3pm. See website for previews !
Ashley Griffiths (Chairman) "Our away support, as always, was superb and I must make a special mention to Graham Dolling who was very vocal throughout the match and certainly encouraged the others to join in. I must also place on record that the hospitality here at St Neots Town is first rate and from the moment we arrived we have been very well looked after. It has been a pleasure to be here today"
Sheldon Francis (Vice Chairman) "Today was a good 0-0 draw. We seemed a bit nervous to start with but we soon settled and we matched them. Both Declan and Moyes had a good chance each but we cannot complain as it was a fair result. Will Fordham, to me, was outstanding as he commanded everything and he kept their lively front two quiet - The return fixture will be interesting to say the least!"
Warren Everdell (Co Manager) "I was happy with the result today, it was a fair outcome of the day. It was an excellent team and squad perfromance and the only criticism was maybe we should have got the ball down some more and played football. Either side could have won it and both keepers and defenses were in great form so it was certainly a day for the defenders not strikers. The lads will take a lot from today's game and move on as we have a busy schedule coming up very soon"
Jez Hall (Co Manager) "We defended from the front today brilliantly and that filtered right through the side as it was a day for outstanding defending. Even when they got through us Rob did very well and made some important saves. We cannot fault the team's performance, they battled hard and worked together. Both sides had chances but both sets of defenders were on top of their game today. We would like to also thank the travelling support. Once again you were tremendous" A viewpoint from the other Saints :
Steve Lomas (Manager St Neots Town) " A draw was a fair result today as neither team deserved to win. We huffed and puffed a bit and I felt that we needed to get the ball down more and play football. Our keeper looked safe today, especially with the crosses and our two centre backs were the pick of the players for me. Will Fordham played well for St Ives today and I've always liked his presence and his combativeness too. It was good to see Matt Bannister too playing well for St Ives. He is a good lad" Lomas added "Today was a game we needed to win. Every game we are now playing catch up with Daventry Town" |

Football will be the winner ! St Ives Town Co Manager; Jez Hall, spoke to the website earlier today to give us his thoughts on the game. Hall said "The lads are looking forward to the derby tomorrow. We have started to play well as a team again. We know that we will have to be at our best to get anything from the game" he added "St Neots have an excellent side full of players from higher levels, they are where they deserve to be in the table, so we know it will be tough. Its a nice situation to go into a league game as underdogs, therefore no pressure, but we will go over there and give our all as a team, and if we play to our best we can give them a scare" For those looking to make the short journey to St Neots can CLICK HERE to see a map of the ground. Tuesday 9th March 2010 - UCL League Knockout Cup
St Ives Town 4 Blackstones 2 MoM : Will Fordham Att: 71 "I was fearing the worst when we went two nil down in the first half but the lads showed the kind of character that we knew was in there" says Saints co manager Jez Hall after tonights win in the League Knockout Cup quarter final. With the Saints winning on Saturday in the Hunts Senior Cup quarter final confidence was running high throughout the squad as a determined Blackstones side made the Tuesday night treck from Stamford to try and de-rail the Saints cup winning ways. MackNey in the Saints goal was on hand after 18 minutes when 'Stones winger Danny Barker fired in a low drive which was well saved by the home keeper. Saints winger Dan Moyes fired two great go bound efforts but Ian Flavell was on hand acrobatically to deny the local lad his first goal of the season. Only minutes later Blackstones had the lead when Chris Pippard pounced on the loose ball to put Blackstones in front. Things got worse for St Ives as they found themselves two down on the half hour when Elton Holmes' low drive found MacKney's bottom corner. After 40 minutes Saints skipper Will Fordham headed home a Declan Rogers corner to give them hope of rescuing the tie. Minutes later Carl Foreman was denied a goal for offside much to the home supporters disappointment. The second half was more like the St Ives Town of old as their fitness and determination showed and Foreman slotted home on 61 minutes when he finished off from close range. After 68 minutes Ozie Foster's free kick was well placed and found the bottom corner leaving Flavell no chance. Three became four when Will Fordham's header smashed the cross bar but the skipper reacted quickly to score the rebound to put the tie out of reach for the Lincolnshire side. After the game co manager Warren Everdell said "We were really pleased with the players tonight and if we show that kind of spirit for the rest of the season there is no reason why we will not win all three cups and finish in a respectable position in the league" St Ives Town will now face Daventry United in the semi final with Newport Pagnell Town already through to the Final. Now the Saints turn their attention to the Derby Match Part 1 on Saturday with a trip to local rivals St Neots Town on Saturday. |

Monday 8th March 2010 - Hunts Youth Cup (Semi Final)
St Ives Town 2 Somersham Town 1 (played at Westwood Road - attendance 87) Manager's & Players Man of the Match : Jordan Butt (St Ives Town) Tonight saw the Young Saints of St Ives Town fire themselves into the Final of the Hunts Youth Cup after overcoming a one goal deficit to grab two late goals and see off their neighbours from Somersham. With a menacing front line of Leon Schwier, Conor Washington and Arran MacKay the Saints worked hard to stamp their authority of the game and with almost a dozen chances falling to several players, the supporters on the sidelines felt that this wasnt going to be Saints day. Things were worsened after 65 minutes when a neat move in the midfield allowed the Somersham striker to punce and slot home form 18 yards. With more chances squandered and the visiting custodian in fine form the frustration showed in the Saints but with ten minutes remaining Arran MacKay pounced onto a blocked shot from Washington and he calmly finished to draw the game level. With extra time on the cards St Ives managed to push once again and their tiredless efforts were rewarded into injury time and Conor Washington made sure of things after wriggling himself free of the Somersham defence. This now sets up a Final showdown between St Ives Town and, again, near neighbours, Huntingdon Town who beat a promising Alconbury side in the previous round. After the game, Saints Manager; Darnell Dodd said "We set out tonight with a view of playing all out attack and this seemed to work in the first twenty minutes but with no goals. It seemed as though our lads switched off a bit and you cant do that against teams like this." he added "We do not fear anyone in this competition. I am looking forward to Thursday night now in the League as we face a trip to Bourne Town on Thursday" FORE MORE INFORMATION REGARDING THE HUNTS YOUTH CUP FINAL DETAILS WILL BE ANNOUNCED VERY SOON |
