Club Statement: Paul Reason steps down as Chairman
St Ives Town Football Club can today announce that Paul Reason has stepped down from
his role as Club Chairman.
Paul has held the position since 2022, having taken over from Gary Clarke and during that
time he has been instrumental in providing strong off the field leadership. Before he became
Chairman, Paul was already a key figure behind the scenes being part of a backroom team
that oversaw the rise of the Ives from the United Counties League through to its current
established status as a step three club.
Club President Neville Nania said “We should all collectively thank Paul for the magnificent
contribution he has made whilst he has been Chairman. During that time, he has devoted
long hours, contributed financially, and introduced new commercial partners to the club
among many other things, and we will always be grateful for that. The board is pleased that
despite him resigning as Chairman, he has agreed to retain his place as a director so will still
be involved with the club”.
With the resignation of Paul, the club is taking the opportunity to begin a restructure of its
behind-the-scenes operation. Part of this will be a process to identify new investors who can
be part of a new strategy that will take the club forward from its current position of a step
three non-league side. This process has already begun.
In the meantime, the board of directors have asked current Director of Public Relations,
Andrew Dunn and Commercial Director, Mark Taylor to become interim co-chairs of the club,
a request that they have both agreed to.
Commenting on the new arrangement, Andrew Dunn said “My involvement with Mark will
hopefully be short-term until a more permanent solution can be found. But we have both
been involved with non-league football for many years, and it is vital that we use that
experience to ensure the club is operating smoothly on a day-to-day basis, whilst working
with our colleagues to put processes in place so that we have a robust structure moving
forward. We have a fantastic product at St Ives Town. The club is at the heartbeat of the
local community and performances on the pitch this season have been brilliant, and
hopefully that will continue. We both also want to pay tribute to Paul. He has been a
fantastic Chairman, and his time in the role has meant that he has left an amazing legacy.
Our challenge now is to build on that legacy and to ensure that we have the right people
involved who can really move the club forward in the long term”.
