Ives lose out to Crows

St Ives Town hosted Royston Town at the Quattro-Tech Westwood Road on Saturday, and it was the visitors who secured a 2-0 victory.

Ives went into the game following back-to-back pre-season victories against St Neots and FC Peterborough but a strong first half performance from the visitors saw them race into a two goal lead before the break.

The home side stuck to their task well and an improved second half display saw them come close to reducing the deficit which included an effort that came off the woodwork. As with all pre-season games, there was a number of changes in personnel, but Ives couldn’t find a way back into the contest and it was the Crows who returned home with victory.

The pre-season programme continues on Tuesday night when Ives travel to Harborough. This is followed by a home game against Cambridge United Under 23’s next Saturday at the Quattro-Tech Westwood Road.
