St Ives Town Football Club offers a unique player performance pathway across our long running and established Football and Education post-16 academy.
Our scholars are taught together, coached together and play together in both college and weekend senior football. We provide full time scholarship programmes with NCFE Level 3 extended diplomas in sports/physical activity and business studies for 16 to 19 year olds.
Education Overview
Our first and second year students study the NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity. This provides no fewer than 168 UCAS points and is the equivalent to three A levels. From September last year our students now have the option to study A level subjects alongside the NCFE Level 3 qualification in a unique blended learning pathway. We work extremely closely with Juniper Sports Training, our official education provider to maintain compliance and high standards. Juniper Sports has a good with outstanding features Ofsted rating.
Students who don’t achieve a grade four in either Maths or English at year 11 will resit maths and or English as a year 12 student. This sees students enrol on the NCFE Level 3 Sport and Physical Activity and extend GCSE classes once a week with resit exams taking place in November or May/June.
Our third year students study the NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Business Studies. This provides students with a further 36 UCAS points and is an idea course for students that are wishing to defer university for a year to gain this qualification. All third year students (year 14) will continue their study with training daily and having access to play within our Wednesday college fixtures or Saturday (Boys) pathway. External students that haven’t been with the Academy as year 12 & 13 are able to apply for this course alongside students who have completed their two year study programme with our Academy
